The Dead Sea

It was as though time pulled me into itself. Standing still in such mud-filled, salt floating wonder I beseechingly asked the question. “Aware of awareness, where does it arise from, how is it we consciously experience this finite existence?

IMG_3960.JPG

The hot dry emptiness and sun’s bright gaze burning away all shadows of doubt. My spirit strengthened as I eclipsed certain parts of myself while wandering. Walking through Masada I questioned how it was such a place was built.

Ein Gedi’s waterfalls enlivening what felt to be joyful liberation and tranquility. Finding a hidden spot to relish the freshness of the waterfalls I felt the ease of the environment soak into me. Such exquisiteness.

I chose Abraham tours for this day of sightseeing. The drive down to the Dead Sea winds with the pressure of going lower and lower and a quiet awe took over everyone on our bus. The dead sea comes into sight it’s cerulean blue amidst the sandy mountain terrain. A place of grandiose beauty filled me with awe struck wonder as the bus went lower. Surreal,  it felt like another world, with caves dotting the mountains that hid many secrets.

img_3957

Sinkholes made the roads impassable at certain points, detouring to new roads that were made. We were duly informed by our fabulous tour guide, that over the past 20 years, due to global warming, the Dead Sea has been drying up 3 meters a year. Spas built 15 years ago are now far away from what once was the shore.

IMG_3980.JPG

My DIATRIBE:

Such a stunning sea while floating in it, the health benefits from the sulphur to salt to mud are numerous. Yet 100 years from now, will it still be here? It put global warming into a very real perspective.

Because it’s drying up, at the beach I was at, plastics and non biodegradeble materials were stuck in the mud. I went around plucking them up and filling the garbage can, to help in the way I could, to preserve the gorgeousness of the sea.

IMG_3983.JPG

My mind started reeling. What is happening to the dead sea reinforced the notion that we are not prioritizing for 100-200 years from now, or our next 7 generations. How is it we have allowed the plundering of our resources to such a damaging effect on our planet?

We are polluting our air, soil and water, due to our reliance on fossil fuels and chemicals with no real solutions being offered.

What will happen to our resources? How is it they’ve become privatized and corporatized? Our reliance on fossil fuels is the biggest detriment to our environment and future, yet big money still wages itself in it. There are many more sustainable and green measures we as a race could and should be taking with our current environmental problems.

Hoping we could move into a more sustainable future in the upcoming years, to preserve the beauty of our gorgeous planet.

Monsanto and Bees Disappearing

Actions have consequences. Call it what you will, Karma or Newton’s third law of motion: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

“Professor Einstein, the learned scientist, once calculated that if all bees disappeared off the earth, four years later all humans would also have disappeared.”
Abeilles et fleurs, June, 1965.

This quote was posited before genetically modified (GM) foods and pesticides infiltrated our food supply.

MONSANTO

M

Monsanto, a major biotech company, along with other companies have created a worldwide monopoly on our food supply. I don’t think we can possibly estimate the pernicious effect the pesticides and foods present to our planet. While certain factions of our world may wish to be immune to GM foods, if this monopolization continues everyone will inevitably be affected.

Genetically modifying foods occurs through engineering the DNA expression and altering the genetic makeup of the seeds, creating a new unnatural strain of plant. This is sometimes done with inserting a virus into the DNA to change the structure. Numerous food sources have become modified and patented, including, but not limited to corn (field and sweet), wheat, soybeans, cotton, canola, alfalfa, sugar beets, papaya and squash. These newly created plants are then the property of Monsanto. It’s debatable as to how healthy GM foods are and the long-term effects they can have to the human genome. “Modifying one segment of DNA does not have a single direct result; instead it can cause a spiraling effect of unintended consequences”

In places worldwide, including the US and Canada, farms that have natural and heirloom seeds have been taken over by GM production. If a Monsanto seed is found on a viable farm that is organic or not Monsanto’s, by right of their patent they sue the farmer and take over the farm’s production. There are also accusations that its patented seeds are to blame for a rise in suicides, over 290,000 within 20 years, in India, by farmers whose farms were confiscated by Monsanto. In Argentina they yield mass GM soy crops, which are sprayed heavily with pesticides. In the surrounding areas of these soy fields there are high statistics of disease and deformities in human births.

Here is a little laundry list of products Monsanto makes

Aspartame
Saccharin
Cyclamates
Bovine Growth Hormone
PCB’s
Agent Orange/Dioxin
Roundup/Glyphosate
MSG
Hydrogenated Vegetable Shortening
DDT
Phosphates
Polystyrene

BEES

Honeybees found dying in our backyard. Los Angeles.
Honeybees found dying in our backyard 😦

It’s well known that our population is rising and world hunger is a huge issue, yet there are healthier ways to yield food production. Under the façade of solving world hunger and being sustainable, Monsanto’s profit driven scheme is counterproductively causing damage to our earth. In the past 30 years there has been a dramatic decline in honeybee colonies in America, Europe and Asia. This epidemic is termed “Colony Collapse Disorder”.

These tiny creatures are exceptionally important pollinators and colony builders, highly intelligent, eloquent conductors, stringing our biosphere together. Our natural ecosystem is completely reliant upon their pollination and their magnificent work feeds everything from plants, insects, reptilians to animals and us. If we lose the bees, we lose our natural ecosystem.

Roundup, one of Monsanto’s most well known pesticides was created in the 1970’s. Introduced into the US food supply was their “Roundup Ready” glyphosate-resistant modified seeds. Since then Roundup has been sprayed massively “A report by the organic center shows that farmers applied an additional 318 million pounds of pesticides in the first 13 years GM crops were grown in the US” Research shows that exposure to a particular class of pesticides, neonicotinoids, causes an increase in Nosema virus in honeybee colonies.

“Neonicotinoid pesticides kill bees. In the US, 90% of corn is treated with neonicotinoids. 88% of Corn is GM. Monsanto controls 80% of GM corn. Monsanto promotes Acceleron as a designer seed treatment for its GM products – Corn, Soy, and Cotton. Acceleron contains neonicotinoids (imidacloprid and Bayer’s clothianadin (Poncho/Votivo)) and a fungicide – both culprits in Collony Collapse Disorder.”

Systemic pesticides, created for the patented GM foods, are applied directly to the soil and leaves and deliver the neonicotinoids to the bees. Even further, in 2007 a new class of fungicide was introduced as a growth enhancer to the corn production, corn being a major source of food for the bees. Synergizing with neonicotinoids this increased the toxicity up to 1,000 times to the honeybees.

“Clothianidin entered the U.S. market under conditional registration in 2003, and in 2004 corn seed companies began marketing seeds treated with a 5X level of neonicotinoids (1.25 mg/seed vs. .25).”

Inductive reasoning leads one to believe that the bees disappearing and contracting Nosema virus has to do with fungicides and pesticides being sprayed on GM seeds, especially corn, in sub-lethal doses.

If the bees continue to decline it is a domino effect that will be paramount in ways I don’t think we can fathom. We are failing as the guardians of our earth if we let this continue. This is an alarm going off, one that must be heard.
This is a crime not only against humanity but upon all prevailing earthlings. A heavy subject, yet if not addressed and rectified the ramifications could be earth shattering.

If the bees are dying from this massive onset of pesticides, how is it affecting us?

Why is this ok?

What can be done?

Humanity’s Degeneracy

We, as a race, are laying a foundation that can only be coined as dirty laundry. An inherited degeneracy that hopefully will not passed down to our progeny. As we are massively heralding in a new chapter of our existence, I think we can all sense a foreboding feeling. We have choices to make, ones that either have sustainable progress or that could easily wipe us out.

How is it that BILLIONS of dollars are spent on war and yet there are people starving in our world?

We’re trashing our beautiful earth in the name of production that we need quickly, more efficiently at higher volumes, more, and faster. The consumerism of materials is astonishing given there are much more sustainable ways to produce, especially plastics.

All the while there are millions of starving people who need to be fed on this planet.

Within the past 100 years we’ve created thousands of years of damage to our soil, waters, air, forests and freshwaters. Our foods are not giving us proper nutrients, are in some cases toxic and in the U.S. organic is outrageously expensive. In most major cities due to mass amounts of pollution there are insufficient amounts of oxygen. Disease is higher as a result of this. Not to mention our water is becoming corporatized.

There are many types of resourceful, healthier energy and sustainable motors that could run on reusable and non toxic fuels or electricity. With so much technological advancement over the past 50 years, many would think these issues would be a priority. Instead we heavily rely on oil due to the monopoly of it in our economy, which is backwards and in-conducive to progress.

Our attitude towards how we are with material goods is indicative of our priorities; we discard them carelessly for the next best thing. I understand they may hold value, therefore, cherish them for what they are but keep in mind, they’re not more important than our connections to one another and our precious earth and creatures, neither is money, titles, fame and glory.

photo Excuses are abound and excuses will not get us out of this. I hear it’s been done this way for thousands of years, or, this is just how we are, we’re doomed. Which I don’t believe is true.

It’s an aversion to change.

I have an aversion, to the distraction that is happening through massive levels of conditioning and brainwashing.

I feel in the depths of my being the pain and suffering happening on deprived levels to people, animals and our earth. A deep fear in people, from basic needs not being met. This is an unconscious hijacking of the Amygdala, our most primal survival instinct. This causes desperation to meet those needs and I believe, higher rates of crime and dependency. Until all of us have our inherent right and ability to have survival needs met, than none of us can truly reach the levels of consciousness that is our potential as a race. Which we all feel within us as we’re all connected. This is common sense it’s also scientifically proven, known as the collective consciousness.

Our collective is at extreme unease, unknowing what to do. What we could start to do is be courageous, take responsibility for our actions and stand for what we know is good, what is pure for each other and our planet. So that purity is preserved for the children and our future.

We can no longer hide our heads in the sand about what is happening on our planet nor give into the fear that is running rampant. Think about what you are using, what you are eating, what you are wearing where it came from and how it is produced. Think about the carbon footprint you are leaving.

Don’t misunderstand me, I know I’m also a part of the problem, all of us are. The solution lies with us, and thinking about what we leave for the great, great-grandchildren of our world. As easy as it is to shrug off what’s important in the distraction game, this is not to be cast away.

Parents want a safe world for their children to grow up in and I believe it’s time to take action, quickly, to counteract what is happening. Much of what we’re seeing comes from the patriarchal ways of plundering and separation that have been handed down to us from prior generations. We don’t have time to play in those archaic belief systems any longer.

We either work together, as essentially, we’re all humans.

Or we keep going at the pace we’re at, and I’ll say it again:

We will be destroyed as a race, by our inability to connect to the emotions of love, conservation, compassion, unity, tolerance, peace and empathy.

Love as always is the key….

The Rainbow Children

Rules abandon throw them out the window for this new generation being born is one that has their own set of codes, our future is destined to be written by them. They’re here to break down structures that no longer suit us in the most playful way.

It’s our responsibility to listen to them, they, essentially are our teachers as much as we are their elders. The sweet voices of these children speak to me at times, especially in deep meditation, guiding me to a world of visionary wonder and belief that they wish to come to fruition.

A rainbow was captured in our hands on two separate occasions with a couple of the beautiful children I work with. As the spectrum of colors and light were dancing through and around our fingers, the joy of such naive play reminded me of the messages these children are bringing.

I say the Rainbow Children because I find their spectrum and ideals are brilliantly all-encompassing ones of tolerance, compassion, empathy and understanding, which I believe is what they come to teach us. They are the evolution of Indigo and Crystal children.
Not an expert, I’m only sharing my personal experiences and what I’ve learned thus far. Gifted myself as an Indigo/Crystal Empath I feel like a magnet for the gifted Rainbow children.

182467_162055047282666_351773829_n

These children implore us to become more than we are, do more than we’re doing at a rapid pace for the progression of a healthy, loving, peaceful and tolerant human race.
The old model of adhering to traditional codes and structures is becoming nonsensical in a world that would incite empathy, understanding and play. Which is what I believe these children are bringing.

Our world loses its color and character when everything becomes a race for money and attainment, a drying up of the colors in the drive for materialism has become our world.

The simple things derive such pleasures for these children, they teach me the revelry and color of what is important in life:
Human connection…
Playful, Loving Expressions…
Interaction in the now with joy even through the utmost disconcerting situations.

These children are highly cognitive, understand far more than we give them credit for and want personalization tailored to their individual learning modality and curve. Which I’ll expound upon more in another post. These children are gifted on levels that I can barely comprehend and their strength can come across as stubborn to us adults.

I notice that gentle firmness as well tender speaking is very important with them, in a way that makes them feel respected, understood and equal. Hugs, playing, tickling, dancing, singing, laughing and positive expression illuminates them. Independent physical imaginary action is as important to them as sitting and learning. I’ve noticed they balk at manipulative techniques, these children are highly intelligent and give back with the same force of what they are receiving. I’ve made it a commitment to speak directly to them, even if little, they are people and deserve the same level of respect that we give each other.
If not more.
They feel very deeply and can be troubled by negative energy yet also easily able to transcend it and bring in compassion. Reiki is especially helpful during stressful situations, it becomes a comfort blanket for them to surrender into.

Fear turns them away, a lacking mentality is not understood. They see a world of abundance and prosperity for all. They yearn for a world that allows for freedoms inherent to all beings, one of alive color and beauty balanced with the logical aspects of our society. Deep analysis is futile for they thrive in momentary expressions.
As the spectrum holds many colors so do these children and their individual gifts they are bringing with such sweetness and strength.

images-2

The rainbow children are highly gifted in subtle, intelligent ways.
As an empath it’s therapy being around their light and vibrancy. They are healers in their own way to old paradigm mentalities. Their messages come to me through visionary feelings.
These children are highly empathic themselves and with some I’ve noticed easy telepathy, especially during dreams and meditative states, or when holding them. This is experience I gain not only from the children I work with on a daily basis, but other children and families that are attracted into my life as well.

The children want us to be good role models, to cast away forms of fear in place of love and harmon. I know this to be true in the depths of my being. The notion I’m lead to is that perhaps it’s time for our world to be more in balance with nurturing instincts to lead these new generations. Puritanical ideas inhibit their natural growth if too controlling.

The children grant me hope for a happy future. I know their wishes are to live in a world of promise and unity, seeing the “fear” and “sin” replaced with knowing they are beautiful, wondrous, unique creations.

For an instant can you imagine this world that they wish for?

Of unity
Of sustainable natural resources on our planet
Of beauty
Of equality
Of happiness
Of freedom
Of peace
Of joyful expression unrestrained and brilliant.

No more quieting them, let them speak…
Do we have the patience to truly listen?

These children beg me in meditations to make rapid change, pulling my thoughts in a manner of visionary wonder of what our possibility is as a healthy future humanity.

I can tell you with certainty through visions I’ve been gifted if we keep going the rate we are at with technology progressing and our mindsets turned in a hierarchical fashion our future is dismal. In this vision I hear future generations of our grandchildren coming to to us when we are old and saying….

“Why didn’t you change more when the choice was still available?”

As a collective, it’s our choice to start making the changes in an accelerated way.

Not so much for us but these future children, unborn grandchildren, great-grandchildren and hopefully so on.

Nicole

Ataraxia

“All men and women are created equal and endorsed with inalienable rights such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” -Thomas Jefferson.

The existence of a society and the highest values and progress of the people within that society being based on individual happiness through equality, peace and freedom.

That, essentially, is Ataraxia.

If the foundations of a society were to encompass those notions, with every person respecting and honoring those values in self and others, it would allow for individual and collective sovereignty and sense of purpose.
With all the counterparts of politics, economics, science, ecology, earth, production and living merging to suit the needs of the time, or Zeitgeist.

“It is not the consciousness of men that determines their existence, but their social existence that determines their consciousness”

Productions and means to produce with the relations regarding production are vital to a society. If we all were given equal opportunities in our strive for personal freedom, we would be more productive in our individual purpose. Undertaking a compassionate conscious level could lend to a world of Utopian existence.

From times of ancient societies of primal communism, to feudalism comprised of serfs and lords, we are now standing upon capitalism, turned heavy consumerism. It is on the books that we live in a capitalist society, a breakdown being private ownership of self, rights and life. That is a fabrication, in reality we are still ruled by a higher class, who own the means of production, otherwise known as the banks and corporations. A self-serving capitalist mindset with a divide and conquer strategy is what drives many.
This is no longer true democracy, it’s bought democracy, equating to the 1% and 99%.

There are many ideas surrounding what is the best economic and political system. From Anarchy to Communism, Libertarianism to Conservatism, Capitalism to Socialism, Industrialism to Egalitarianism. Every single one of these ism’s I can find something to agree with, each containing their pros and cons.

Bottom line, many came from time periods where the ideologies worked for a productive society and what worked 50, 20, even 10 years ago are no longer solutions for our future. To say that one way will govern the people is preposterous, we can no longer look to the past to govern us.

Each generation inherits what the prior generation encompasses. It’s time for a change of the guard, a guard that has many imposed ideas, categories, labels, generalizations and self-righteous thinking. Keeping our world separated in a somewhat xenophobic manner.

I think we can all agree, that true freedom are intrinsic rights of every human.

All the people should have a say over what is our governing blanket.

A new system will not have one set of ideals that permanently run it. Like flowing water, the people in it will continually evolving.

Our now is composed of technology, means to production, a world that needs to be taken care of, a desire for equality and individuality with a hierarchy structure in place.

We no longer have the luxury of keeping ecosystem, economics and politics separate, this is a new paradigm for which we have to shift our viewpoints a bit.

“Sanity in it’s essence is nothing more that learning to live in harmony with nature’s laws”

Where does creative purpose fall within this?
How can we work all the elements together to have a productive, happy, society?

I believe it’s in a balance of one’s creating, doing and being while honoring others and self-sovereignty.

A break with the idea of one system and our current consciousness.

Moving beyond rigidness, the box and one system. Shaping a form to a flowing, merging, agreement of ideas and tenets to suit the needs and desires of the whole and individual as they surface.

What is your idea of happiness and freedom, personally and collectively?

Occupy Chicago

Fighting for our freedom, America was founded upon the ideals that every person could become wealthy and make a decent living. Creating something from nothing, millions of our ancestors left everything on their last vestige of hope and traveled to this country for the renowned American Dream.

That dream has become extremely convoluted in the corporate dynamics of gain and greed that make up our current economic and political system.

Sign on Building reads TOPPLE THE PYRAMID

With the imbalance of wealth in our country, the middle class is falling away, comparable to a third world.
People are slaving away to make ends meet, with the mindset that hard work is the greatest virtue of our establishment.
Where is it getting anyone any longer?
With inflation rising, people are losing their homes, jobs and everything they have known. Their attempts to build their “American Dream” have dissipated in our failing economy.

Why in such a recession are major banks making higher profits?

Thousands were gathered yesterday to march through the streets of Downtown Chicago. The destination was a Mortgage Broker’s party that was happening.
Occupy Chicago has occurred daily for a week and a half. As a sister to Occupy Wall Street, it started with 15 people, gaining momentum, there were thousands in attendance.

People of all ages and races were gathered, representing the 99%.
Echoing through the streets
“People over profits.”
“The banks were bailed out, the people were sold out.”
“We are the 99%” was heard.

This country was founded upon the voice and strength of the middle class.

A question that I continually ask is, how can we choose what we are inherently born into?

We can’t

How many of us desire wealth, and how many attain that 1 percentile?

Our system is erroneously flawed. People are given a head start miles in front of another based on class, money and status. As our population rises, the bottom will keep growing, while the wealthy buy their way into the dwindling top.
The upper echelons of society are bred from a young age, given the best opportunities, attending the most prestigious schools and academies.
A topic I will elaborate upon in much more detail further on.

Where does happiness fit in with our worldly system?

Why are we lead to believe satisfaction is contained in accumulation of materials, titles, promotions, and money?

Hope has gone out the window for so many Americans in a competition that is leaving people empty and forsaken.
So many are unhappy in our society, including the uber wealthy.

To the politicians, corporations and system I ask:

Why is there such blatant selfishness masquerading as care for our people?

A friend and I spoke with the police officers as they were surrounding everyone. We expressed to them, we love you, thank you, you are a part of the 99% with us.
They started smiling as they were forcing us all off the streets, it made me feel a bit like a sheeple, at least we got them to smile ; )

I spoke with a local news reporter, asking her why the occupations have taken so long to be broadcasted, while something like the Casey Anthony story is blasted on National News?

Are the corporations behind what is spun much more than we think?

This will catch wind of being a movement for all the people and will be unstoppable.

She pondered a moment, smiled and told me that was an extremely valid point. Then added
“Unlike national news, the local news does it’s best to catch wind of what is truly happening, in an unbiased way.”

A summary of the General Assembly’s statement:
The Occupation is not in line with any political party. Far beyond that, it is about being human with the people of the world uniting. It is our world, our time to take it back for all of us.
There was a declaration that was read, taken from Occupy Wall Street. It addressed the economic imbalances and inequalities of our corporate and political system.

Here is a copy of the Wall Street version, there were some additions for Occupy Chicago.

At the end there was a chance for everyone in attendance to come up and speak their truth. It was stated that this is about the people, spreading to cities worldwide.

I left before it was finished, with a feeling of hope.
This is a pivotal time in the history of Humanity, a time when we can all come together to create a real change for the future of our race. I am happy to be a part of this.

With love,

the revolution has begun.

Power of The People

The power of the people is the power of humanity.

Believing in this power will be the solutions to our current tragedies and system.
WE are humanity, we are the people, it is up to us to break these chains of fear and separation within the whole of our race. The answers to our problems will be found in an understanding of the whole. Consciousness shall pervade, awareness is key, creating a new system causes the fall of the old paradigm.

This setup will not come from the current structure in place.

It will take a break from all the beliefs we have known throughout our lives. Questioning and undermining the collective conditions that are in place. Throwing that which does not serve humanity’s highest away in place of harmony, unity, love, acceptance, tolerance and building together.

Hard concept to grasp?

These are the tenets preached in most major religions, what has happened?

It is time to stand up for one another, fellow human. Unified in our common bond, we shall supersede this system that is leaving so many without hope, without love, without basic survival necessities. So many feel lack, loss and unhappiness, while the 1% is at the top, making billions off of our efforts, dirt and sweat.

The corporations and banks that run our world are concerned about monetary gain. Caring about the people that supports them is absent in our capitalistic and competitive system. With the hierarchy employee/employer dynamic, this triangular structure leaves each person below another disempowered.

When a man is found dead at his desk for five days, that is a symptom of our uncaring system.

In a world FOR the people, the corporations would give people say over the choices they make. Their aims would be for the highest good of the earth and humanity.
Such an easy concept, why isn’t it seen?

Here is a question I would like to ask.

How can we deal to another, what we would not want to be dealt?
While an easily forgotten question, being happy and placated here in our safe bubble of a world.
This bubble is quickly popping.

Treat one another the way we would like to be treated… sounds easy, look at the state our world is in. In the name of capital gain; greed, control, discipline, fear and ravaging our world are the tenets of this establishment.
We collectively treat others the way we would never desire to be treated. Whether it is working conditions that are appalling, to the many forms of discipline and punishment.

These are topics I will get into in much more detail down the road. For now, scratching the surface in question.

Discipline and punishment are archaic values in our system.
Discipline is a form of control, boxing in behavior to fit a societal mold. When that mold is not met, there are elements of judgement and punishment.
The fear of punishment and its many forms, including estrangement and rejection are factors in every human’s manner within this system.
We wonder why there are so many f-ed up things happening on our planet. The more this discipline is felt, the more people are retaliating within their personal lives and families.

Whether it is a woman being lashed for driving in Saudi Arabia, to a child being labeled ADD in an education system, to keeping up with the Jones’s in our American competition.
Discipline/punishment only perpetuates self-righteous thinking of “knowing best” for another. Essentially it disempowers self-sovereignty. While giving room to “correcting” what is “wrong”, creating abuse and punishment.

Our archaic competitive establishment will transform.  There are more peaceful ways to work through our issues.

How can we create a setup that provides and treats the whole?

It is time to heal our tragedies so that we can start working together.

Healing the whole calls for tolerance and allowing us to process what is lodged within our DNA and race for millenia, individually and collectively.

We say we want change. Changing the world starts within each one of us. Transforming our every interaction, thoughts, words and deeds towards our fellow human. Pushing through our barricades of ego and fear, into acceptance and love.

To create a society of self-fulfilled people. The aims being one’s personal derivation of creativity, love and happiness, whatever that individually means. Children, elders and everyone along the spectrum, being treated with honor, respect and appreciation.

Can you imagine a world such as this?

Sustainability Please

“Go check out the waste room” My friend said to me.
I popped into the stinky room of where I am staying in Lincoln Park, Chicago. A neighbor was moving to Florida and throwing everything away. I was astonished to see so many viable products going to waste.
A bag full of plastic hangers, a brand new fan still in the box, a juicer, 5 bags of clothes.
New kitchen supplies and speaker system???!!!!!!!

Living off of little on a completely sustainable homestead in Hawaii, has cultivated within an appreciation for materials and what they represent.
My first time as a garbage picker, I went in there and plucked the stuff to use and donate.

Sustainability is the way of our future, it’s quite disconcerting to witness how much

We waste.

It’s easy to think out of sight out of mind, yet, our trash is taking up enormous amounts of space in our earth and oceans.

No one to blame, instead addressing a system that is set up quite unsustainably.
A more sustainable society would include an organized system of waste, to minimize the amount of used space.

Stuff and Clothes

I love to shop and be fashionably on top, yet over the past few years have developed a complex about buying new, from places that are unsustainable and un-humanitarian.

“There must be a better way”
I think to myself
“As quickly as this fashion comes in, it goes out.”

Fashion labels could reconstitute old fabric in overfilled donation centers for new pieces, sustainability becoming a fashion statement beyond vintage.

A mentality of sustainability could replace this outdated modality of purchasing so much stuff and creating waste.

How?
By thinking more about what is bought and thrown away.

Realizing that the idea
new and better = consumerism condition.

This mindset comes from the constant barrage of brainwashed competition to have the newest and best.
Watch any commercial and you will see this blatantly displayed.

To sell one into, out with the old, in with the new.

Between us Americans there is abundance alone to donate and reuse, to families in need here and overseas, which could balance out the imbalance of materials and

stuff turned waste.

The mindset of hoarding and buying “newer and better” could be minimized by recycling what is already in production.
There could even be places set up for this in a system of trade.
What is one persons trash could be anothers found treasure.

This process of donating could be made easier for our quick fix society, implemented as part of our trash system that is then filtered and designated properly.

A good friend has started a non-profit in Detroit in line with this idea. She is taking what people no longer want and donating to those in need.
World-Bridger Non Profit can be found on Facebook if you would like to donate in the Detroit area.

Abundance comes from giving.

Compost

Organic compost when broken down anaerobically and aerobically not only creates new soil when compounded correctly, but can also be a source of sustainable energy.
To help with the shortage of healthy soil, we can create new soil out of compost, a process that is rather simple and can be done on large levels. When I worked on an organic farm in New Mexico we undertook this process. What this consisted of was making soil from a pile of organic material,
then we would pile on poo (cow manure) ; )
and straw material from the dry desert.
We would soak this concoction for 5 minutes at a time, while continuously piling more on.
Over time it would breakdown and after filtering, a dark silty soil would result.
By organizing and creating a separate system of compost in our trash system, it could serve the purpose of creating energy and soil production.

Recycling

Recycling, obviously, should be incorporated into our waste systems for all plastics, glass, paper, styrofoam and metals. I have found in major cities like NYC and Chicago there is a lack of recycling programs in larger buildings.
In a quick fix society, many will just throw away recyclable materials.

I like the idea of this recyclone

Wish:
for our government to take some of the billions going towards useless wars, and allocate funds to implement more organized systems for our trash nationally.
Which could help the needy, create new forms of energy, soil, and minimize the space we take up in these landfills.

Subordination to Attainment

“Capitalism being a system that allows you to go higher and higher up a potential pyramid. The deal is it comes with fewer and fewer safety nets.

By definition

The more stratified a society is, the fewer people you have as peers.

The fewer people for whom you have symmetrical reciprocal relationships

and instead all you have are differing spots and endless Hierarchies.

A world in which you have a fewer reciprocal partners is a world with a lot less Altruism.”

~Dr. Robert Sapolsky

MORE MONEY = HIGHER STATUS = CONTROL

For thousands of years we have been within an archaic system that supports hierarchies, social elitism and control.

Money and the lengths corporations, countries, religions and individuals go to obtain it, is at times appalling. We are desensitized to these lengths by a norm living in a

Dog eat dog world.

This has become a competition with one another for a higher standard of living, in the attempts to attain more within this competition, we ultimately lose sight of altruism and humanity

While it appears we have come far from cast systems, there are still hierarchies of superiority and inferiority that create separation and distinction between classes.
While more subtle, these structures are extremely evident in our culture.

Whether it be the brand of clothing one wears, to the type of car one drives, to the house one lives in, to the people one surrounds themselves with.
We brand one another and ourselves where we feel we fit in this hierarchical structure.

As humans, our need for love and acceptance is what drives us, and what is more conditioned to be accepted and sought after than

money?

the driving factor in our world has become attainment of a better life, and a better life is dictated by having more money.

Otherwise known as

climbing the social ladder.

With inflation rising, the standard of living keeps getting higher, and every human is relentlessly climbing.
or running,

in a circle,

like a hamster wheel……

This circle essentially becomes working to live,
living to work,
in what may or may not be one’s truth or dream.

Within our “freedom”, we all give our freedom away to money, attainment and a system that supports it.
Subordination to attainment, feeling that within attainment true satisfaction is met. Much more than consumerism this is a societal condition that is an absolute paradox, how can one truly live in this system freely?

With the middle class falling away, there is a bottom and top to this hierarchy.
The bottom much larger than the top.
At the bottom is poverty, a class that has been created around lack, one has to fight to survive, this class is looked down upon.
While at the top social elitism is looked up to, with a measure of success being gauged by how much money one makes.

Within our system, a societal perception is that people with money are superior.
Is that because these people have more of an ability to do what they desire, surrounded by luxury and educated in higher establishments?

Is that what everyone is climbing towards?

We are not given a choice about where, who or which hierarchy we are born into, in order to feel successful, why should we have to be continuously climbing?

What about one’s level of happiness and sense of purpose, why isn’t that a gauge for success, regardless of the amount of money that is made?

I want to pose these questions and state;

I don’t know what the answers are, for each person they will vary.

I just like to question,

EVERYTHING.

You may ask the question, why question everything?
I say to you, why not?

Progressive? yes…..
Progress is not made by being stagnant in any idea or mindset.

The government doesn’t have your truth, politics don’t have your truth, religion doesn’t have your truth, the media doesn’t have your truth, school doesn’t have your truth, your parents don’t have your truth.

Only you do, and only you know it.

It may be a collection of other truths, or it may be wholly unique, whatever it may be, honor it, listen to it

be it.

Earth’s Cry

“Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.

~ancient indian proverb

Let me tell you

a message I have been gifted……

While in the tropical islands, I had decided to go on a pilgrimage for a couple of hours. Walking through green, lush and flourishing jungle, with thick moist soil under my feet, the plants were living and breathing beside me. The smell was green and damp with the jungle’s spirit.
In the distance powerful surges could be felt by the ocean rolling its way onto the sands.

I was following a path where everything was tingling intensely with life. Birds were chirping their call, while fire ants were lining the path to collectively build their communities.
Quietly, a space of awe was created within me, becoming a part of this ecosystem.

I looked around me within such breathtaking beauty to see plastic bottles and garbage littering.

Collecting, accumulating, not decomposing.

In such natural wonders, I had to question why?

Why?

Why?

It brought up sadness within me, for what we are doing to our beautiful earth. After witnessing so much pollution, and the unconscious way that our earth is being dumped upon and taken from.

My eyes starting watering, tears dripping down into the dirt,
and then I heard loudly from

Earth

“If things continue to transpire this way, I will become nothing more than a ravaged wasteland.

I am giving you a warning:

Humanity will be forsaken, if you don’t learn to work with me,
do not underestimate my power to cleanse you and your destruction from me.

This is my cry for help to you, little one

Take my message through your weeping to all those who will heed and help.
There is not much time to undertake the undoing of what has been ruined.”

I call upon you humanity,

this is beyond crisis,

and world calamity,

this is us being a parasite upon which we are reliant.

Our waters are polluted with chemicals and sewage, making our oceans and freshwater lakes ruined.
Lands are strewn with plastic and inorganic material, leaving the earth more waste. Animals and wildlife are becoming extinct, the way we treat them is sometimes sickening.

Our air is tainted with the highest CO2 levels on record, that level is rising. Without regulations, people are sick in third world cities from the high levels of pollution in the air.

Deforestation.
Desertification

Heavy metal toxicity in our soil is preventing us from gaining proper nutrients in our food.

This list can go on and on, yet focusing on the problems will not solve them.

“Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.”
~ Albert Einstein

Whatever you believe in, the state of humanity and our Earth is in peril.

Corporations due to consumerism, are ravaging their marks upon our Earth.
While half as much is not being replanted, restored or recycled.

This is far beyond sustainability, its time for us to reclaim our earth for the future of humanity.

An old Native American adage says that

“Whatever is taken from the earth, is to be given back.”

And still I hear~

“It’s not my problem or issue”

If we keep taking that kind of stance, what kind of world will be left for our future generations?

There are soulutions, and ways to undo this.

With technology comes responsibility, the responsibility of educating properly.

If we are these powers, then let’s set an example for the world. It’s up to us first world countries to teach and implement new systems of cleaning the air, cleaning the water, and planting more trees ad foods, taking care of the earth and her creatures.

Living sustainably upon her.

Worldly, consciously, a reciprocal approach, for we are all students and teachers upon our Earth.
